Resensitisation is the practice of bringing sensation back to the body where it has been lost. By using breath, touch, and sound, applied point by point, we can repattern the information in the tissue, by releasing tension.

Why we lose sensation

We desensitise ourselves in the way we live every day. It is not just sexual desensitisation, it is sensorial desensitisation. We are covered in clothes, we live in cities, we eat fast, we replace touching with tools. We are conditioned by visual stimulation. We become intellectual beings, not sensorial ones.

What it does

Resensitisation allows you to expand pleasure so that you feel so much pleasure that you are not getting distracted by a thought, because it feels so good. It is a cellular repatterning.

Where to apply it

You can resensitise any part of the body. Common areas that hold less sensation: the breasts, the belly, the perineum, the inside of the vagina, the urethra opening, the cervix, the shaft of the penis. Anywhere the body has stopped feeling, or where there is pain it has been carrying.

Try this

As many of these practices require privacy, which might not be immediately available, I invite you to simply imagine the practice. Visualise, sensualise, how you would do this practice, and what it would feel like.

Resensitisation

Find a place in the body where you don't feel a lot of sensation, or where there is pain or discomfort. Apply a finger and make solid contact.

Breathe into that point, using the breath to move the body towards the point of contact. Instead of pain and resistance, where the body is pushing in and shutting down, you want the body to open towards the touch.

On the exhale, add sound. Because you are doing it with awareness, you are safe, you are holding yourself in this practice. The body starts shifting.

Move to the next point and repeat. It is a point-by-point practice, not a sweep.

It takes time

Resensitisation is not a one-session practice. The body holds what it has carried, and the change is gradual. Explore these practices daily for best results.
