You'll need something that you delight in in terms of scent, either a flower or aromatherapy or anything really that you respond to. in a very delicious way. Okay, let's take a moment to arrive right here and become aware of our beautiful body. And again, as you now are experienced with, follow your breath into your body. All your attention now to become aware of your body breathing, and to fade away as you exhale. For this meditation, we're going to be connecting with our sense of smell. So if you have something fragrant available, let's grab a hold of that now. And I want you first to see if you can smell it from a distance, those in your breath, to seek the fragrance and to take it in deeply from a distance. Don't worry if you can't actually smell. you're going to be. Or you can imagine, and you can, imagine that your breath from a distance pulls in that scent through your nose. You could even try through your mouth, because we often can taste what we smell. Allowing your awareness to be soft, curious, expanded, taking full, delicious breath. rinking in more of that scent that is a little further away. Perhaps you're holding it in your hand and your hand is resting on your lap. And very slowly, bring that fragrance, maybe like six inches away from your face and move it in a slow circle. And see now if you can pick up that fragrance with your breath. your awareness to connect with the fragrance, drawing it in like you're drinking an elixir. And as you're circling, bring the fragrance closer and closer. Feeling the fragrance emerge and merge. Learn more fragrance as you get closer and closer, more and more merging as you breathe deeply. in front of your nose, taking a deep, full breath, breath slowly. to that, Just let the fragrance, whether it's a flower, aromatherapy, or something else, just put it down near you, allowing now your awareness to go deeper. Feeling the fragrance flowing not only into your nose, but it's flowed right down through your mouth, through your throat, into your lungs. Imagine your lungs nourished and replenished by this fragrance. Our sense of smell is our most primal sense. So it activates our oldest brain, and if it's a pleasant smell, puts that reptilian part of ourselves into a state of relaxation, connection, and soft awareness. And imagine now, the scent, that you've breathed it in so deeply, that its essence, through the blood barrier, has flowed through into your whole body, carrying, the beautiful quality, all yourself. The memory of the scent. To linger, let it linger. Your whole body receptive and soft, alive and connected. We want to learn to receive the breath. We want to learn to receive beautiful fragrance as a gift, as a nourishment, but secretly also as a nourishment. and activation of our more subtle pleasures in the body. So as you're breathing, recalling the fragrance, perhaps you can also recall another fragrance, the scent of the ocean or of pine or of your lover's skin. And notice how recalling those scents has a response in your body. Notice how incredible your body is to deeply drink in through its senses. particularly through the nose and smell. But how our senses make sense of reality, our sensuality, keeping us connected, open, alive. So as you either drift off into sleep or merge out into the world, pay attention today to your sense of smell and let it nourish you. let it soften you, let it delight you, even if it's just privately, It's it's just that it's just privately, secretly,
