Can the Kama sexual wellness app improve your love life?
Serial entrepreneur Chloé Macintosh, who co-founded Made.com before becoming chief creative officer at Soho House, tells The Times why she left furniture for sextech, and why she believes most of us reach only a fraction of our sexual potential.
The piece traces Chloé’s path from training as an architect at Foster + Partners, through co-founding the furniture retailer Made.com in 2010, to launching Kama, a sex and intimacy education platform she built after years of research into how the body learns pleasure.
She describes a wider “sex recession”, the way technology and porn have left people more anxious and disconnected, and her conviction that intimacy is a skill that can be learned and practised, not a fixed trait. Kama, she argues, is a digital answer to a digitally created problem: in-depth, practical education delivered through guided video and audio, alongside breathwork, meditation and somatic practice.
“Because no one is having the sex they deserve, they don’t even know what they’re missing.”
Across the interview she makes the case that pleasure is a form of wellbeing, that stress and shame are the real barriers, and that better sex begins with attention to the body rather than performance.
